SlenderWall ad wins READEX award from Architectual Record

The SlenderWall ad in the February issue of Architectural Record received the highest score in the "Found Interesting" category amoung their readers. The score was based on their annual READEX RESEARCH study which scores all editorial and advertising content. The SlenderWall score was 58%, more than double the average of all 65 ads (27%), and even higher than the average score of the editorial content (45%). Chinese explore SlenderWall partnership with Easi-Set Worldwide

Smith-Midland Corp. and its product licensing subsidairy Easi-Set Worldwide recently hosted a six-person delegation from one of China’s largest construction companies to discuss a “technology partnership.” Nantong Sijian Construction Group Chairman Geng Yuhua and his team visited Fauquier for two days in mid-April. Based in Jiangsu Province, NSCG has 70,000 employees working in construction, including precast concrete, Smith-Midland’s specialty.

Johns Hopkins facility receives American Concrete Institute Award

Their choice of SlenderWall® from Smith-Midland Precast plays an important role in the successful reconstruction of a critical 1970’s medical facility. Announced on April 16th, 2015, The Nelson/Harvey Building has been recognized as an ACI Excellence award winner.

Midland, VA – Smith-Midland Corporation (OTCQB: SMID) – Johns Hopkins Hospital operates a dense, urban medical campus in Baltimore with an outsize global reputation. Nestled amid the pioneering clinical and research facilities is the Nelson-Harvey Building, a 1970s-era modernist structure with narrow ribbon windows and long expanses of brick colored to match the nearby Halstead Building and the 1880s Billings Building, a campus landmark with its classic dome. SlenderWall Meets Demanding 2012 IECC Thermal Requirements

Recently, fabricated SlenderWall panels completed a series of rigorous ASTM C1363-11, Thermal Performance using a Hot Box, tests. The objective of this test program was to investigate how standard SlenderWall panels could meet the 2012 IECC thermal performance requirements for all climatic zones within the United States and parts of Canada A series of tests were performed on SlenderWall panels containing varying depths of different closed cell foam insulations and gap "spacings" (the gap between the precast concrete exterior skin and the steel stud frame). These separate tests provided the foundation for developing a methodology to ensure that the panel's thermal performance (U-value and continuous insulation) will meet varying customer requirements.
