Wayne-Hamburg Office Commons to Feature SlenderWall

Midland, VA - Smith-Midland Corp., the manufacturer of the SlenderWall architectural precast concrete panel system, announces its involvement in the construction of Wayne-Hamburg Office Commons, an office building project in Wayne, N.J.

The SlenderWall component of the contract awarded to Smith-Midland Corp. is valued at more than $700,000.00.

The two-story office complex will require 20,000 square feet of two-story SlenderWall panels featuring “punched” window openings. Two architectural precast mixes and finishes will be used to expose the coarse aggregates.

“We had used SlenderWall precast panels with a brick face on the Stryker project a few years ago and the system, the finished product and the erection process was very much to our liking,” said architect Kent Seyffer of Seyffer & Koch Architectural Group.

“Due to the nature of this medical office building project, with its tight construction time frame, it is a perfect opportunity to use the SlenderWall product,” said Seyffer. “We believe that the use of the product will allow the building to be erected more quickly and is very competitive with the typical precast systems.”

The patented SlenderWall architectural precast concrete panel system allows the completion of the building’s exterior to occur 10 percent faster than if traditional heavy precast concrete had been used. Panel production is scheduled to begin in August; installation is scheduled to begin in September and end in December.

SlenderWall combines time-proven components to create a permanent, light weight wall system for both new construction and recladding projects. Architectural precast concrete, insulated Nelson anchors and heavy-gauge stainless or galvanized steel studs create a single, efficient exterior wall system with unlimited design freedom. Due to the exclusive “lift-and-release” panel landing system of SlenderWall , installation time and costs can be reduced by 50%.

Only SlenderWall offers the latest DuraFlex 360° technology. This technology is the only 2” wall connection system that meets AAMA 501.4-2000, the Interstory Differential Movement vertical and horizontal displacement test. DuraFlex 360° allows isolation from the exterior precast concrete skin and the structural stresses associated with wind loading, steel frame movement, expansion & contraction and seismic shock.
